Week Beginning 1st June 2020

Make an instrument.

Last time your challenge was to make a rain stick. It was fantastic to see Oskar’s rain stick, thank you very much for sharing your work with us! This week have a look around your home and see what materials you can find to make an instrument. You could use anything, a cereal box, a tissue bow, elastic bands, cardboard tubes, anything. Once you have made your instrument, can you come up with your own song about how a plant grows or what it needs to help it grow? Share your ideas with us by sending your songs and instrument photos to us through our email addresses on the class page!

Music: A rain stick

Week Beginning 18th May 2020

Make your own musical instrument:

You will need:

  • a cardboard tube (kitchen roll tube or toilet roll tube)
  • card or paper
  • scissors
  • 1/4 cup of uncooked rice
  • tin foil
  • tape

  1. First cut two circles the same size as the openings of the tube.
  2. Next tape one of the circles to the end of the tube.
  3. Then roll a long, thin piece of tin foil and place it inside the tube.
  4. After that pour, the rice into the tube.
  5. Next tape the other circle on to the end of the tube.
  6. Decorate your rain stick.
  7. Finally, you have made your rain stick. Slowly turn the rain stick to hear the sound
